It’s summertime and we are experiencing heat waves combined with days or rain and clouds here in the Netherlands. I am working at customers, while it’s hot outside, preparing for my marathon in Berlin (end of September) and a few talks for later this year (Norway, Italy). The community is still going strong and a lot of them are contributing through different channels. One of community members is Scott Banwart and today’s story is about him.
Scott is 36 years old and lives in Akron, Ohio in the U.S.A. He is the Technology Manager and part-owner of StoneDonut, LLC.
“We are a boutique consulting firm specializing in integration, SOA and BPM. In my role as Technology Manager I act as our technical architect, lead developer and manager of our development team.”
Scott is a geek to the core, so when he is not writing code for work he can be found writing code for fun.
“I like to experiment with other integration-related technologies to find new ways to solve problems. Currently I am working with F#, Python and RabbitMQ. I am also interested in learning more about Hadoop and using it in conjunction with BizTalk. When I discover something particularly interesting I try to post it on my blog”
When not Scott is not in front of the computer than he likes to play board and video games, read science fiction books, cook and spend time with his wife Charity and kids.
Scott is an avid soccer fan and player. He plays in a recreational league at his church during the summer months. He does not have a true favorite team, but he will try to follow the Columbus Crew during the MLS season. Other than that, Scott will watch any soccer game he can find on television including the MLS, Premier League and Liga MX.
“I am also looking forward to cheering on the U.S. National Team next year in the World Cup.”
Scott has been developing BizTalk solutions for eight years and consulting for six. he started with BizTalk 2006 and have worked with all versions up through BizTalk 2010. His primarily focus is on architecture and development but as a consultant, he get to do a little bit of everything from administration, deployment to support. Scott also works with related technologies like WCF and ASP.NET Web API.
Scott’s opinion on BizTalk:
“What I like best about BizTalk is that it has the right combination of integration tools in the box without being overly complex. Many integration platforms have a bigger feature list but their cost and complexity make them difficult to work with. BizTalk has all the tools I really need without a lot of extra features I may or may not use. I am also excited to see the direction Microsoft is taking BizTalk with recently released Windows Azure BizTalk Services. (I am also hoping some of the innovations in the Azure services make into the on-premise version too.)”
